Mid-week Confucius break

June 6, 2012

We didn’t have any lectures scheduled on the Wednesday we were in Jinan, so our hosts kindly arranged for a trip to nearby Qufu to see the hometown of Confucius.IMG_4344

DT was excited to be at the first university in the world.

Incense and prayers.

Sometimes the passages were really narrow:IMG_4382

There was a pretty garden at the end of our tour through the temple.

After a lunch break, we saw the forest where there are memorials to Confucius and many of his ancestors are buried.  It was very refreshing to drive around the forest in a little open shuttle.

This was a really fun and unexpected day trip!
